BURKE SINGLES is a Singles Social group centered in Burke, Virginia. There are lots of activities for these spirited Singles: quarterly Dances, Hiking around Burke Lake, Beach trips, International Dining, volleyball, tennis, TGIF dancing, Wine & Cheese tasting, Birthday Bashes monthly. In addition to meeting weekly from 10:45 -12 Sundays, there are several activities sponsored by this group including biking canoeing, beach trips and parties. LUTHERAN SINGLE ADULTS is comprised of single adults throughout the area and is open to everyone. Costs for activities are low and intended to encourage single adults toward lives that give praise to Jesus Christ. Singles @ Messiah is hosted by Messiah Methodist Church, 6215 Rolling Rd @ Old Keene Mill in Springfield. Activities include a fall Singles Fair, a spring Retreat, Christmas in April, and fall and spring Divorce Recovery Workshops with support for children and single parents, too. Call (703) 534-5700. NEW BEGINNINGS®, Inc. is a support group for separated and divorced men and women in the DC metropolis. Discussion meetings held nightly in members' homes are the major activity. Monthly speakers, social events, workshops and weekend retreats are also offered. Those eligible to join New Beginnings® must be physically separated from a spouse (separate residences) due to separation or divorce, and a divorce must not have been more than 4 years before application (one partner only). Initial membership is $30/ 6 months or $45/year; renewals are $40. Each meeting costs $5 (refreshments and materials). PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS is an international non-profit, non-sectarian educational organization devoted to the welfare and interests of single parents and their children. There are chapters serving all of the metropolitan area. A single parent may join any chapter regardless of residence and the $35 annual membership fee permits entry at all PWP events at member price. Adult activities include dances, potluck parties, wine & cheese parties, game nights; and there are several activities for children as well. For additional information call (703) 406-3750.
THE YOUNGER WIDOWED GROUP (59 and under) is a group of younger widows and widowers who get together to share their friendship, companionship and a meal with other younger widowed persons in a non-threatening and comfortable environment.
